This project gave us the chance to step completely into a fantasy world creatively, which made it a really exciting one to work on from the start. UK metal band Albyon approached us to design album artwork inspired by the themes and stories explored throughout their lyrics – all centred around a mythical fantasy land known as “Albyon.”

The goal was to create artwork that felt cinematic and atmospheric, almost like a glimpse into an ancient world that had existed long before the album itself. We wanted the environment to feel both beautiful and worn with age, combining vast landscapes, mystical surroundings, and a sense of mystery and scale.

One of the key ideas from the brief was the inclusion of a lone figure overlooking the kingdom in the distance. That image became the emotional focus of the piece, helping give the artwork a sense of isolation, adventure, and discovery that matched the tone of the music perfectly.

From the early concept stage, the project flowed naturally, and when we presented the first design to the band, they loved it immediately. No edits or changes were needed, which is always an amazing feeling as a designer because it means the vision connected exactly how you hoped it would.

It’s still one of our favourite world-building projects we’ve worked on, and we were so pleased with the final result that we featured the design in our portfolio.
